it's all good!

I live in the King West neighbourhood not too far from Politica Restaurant. Last year, I made dinner reservations on the patio for my cousin's bachelorette party. We were pleasantly surprised at the friendly service and the food/drinks (especially the mussels!)

My cousin and I are now regulars who choose to go back for every occassion possible. Not necessarily the best place to host a bachelorette party, but if you're looking for an intimate dinner with another (or a few!) friends, this is most definitely a cozy spot sure to satisfy your tastes!

I've been frequenting Politica for the last three years... like two or three times a week for lunch and once a month for dinner.

Over the past couple of months they went through some staff and menu changes and the food suffered as a result. We'll Nick and Company have corrected that situation and the food and menu are returning the their former glory...

I couldn't be happier. Politica is back... tell your friends!!

I have been to politica three times.
My experiences had always been terrible. I do not know why this place gets positive reviews, what are these people eating to consider this food good or even dissent??
Pizza far from good, pasta pre-cooked and overcooked, overpriced menu for the quality offered, meats below average, tomatoes do not taste like tomatoes... need more?
Decorations are very nice, so if you want to spend roughly $300.00 per couple to enjoy plate decorations, go ahed!

I've driven by this corner resto a few times, but never had the chance to check out the menu. We decided to try it by fluke, and were so pleasantly surprised. I'm very picky about restaurants, and I find that most places in Toronto are sub par... service food and prices. This was not the case at all. The servers were all super friendly and knew a lot about the menu. We weren't very hungry so my friend and I decided to order a bocconcini salad with pistachios and yummy vinaigrette, and the aribiatta linguini with mussels. Everything was fantastic. The owner came by to chat us up, and shamed me for living in the area and not trying the restaurant sooner. I can't wait to go back !!!

A quite sunday dinner with a few friends at a local restaurant the turned out to be a pleasant surprise! We found it to be very busy for a Sunday night (almost full). The food was quick and caught us off guard. The server was very pleasant and quite funny, recomending the house specialty: cornmeal crusted calamari and mango chilli ribs. We couldn't help but order seconds, my boyfriend said they are the best ribs he has ever had. As on entree I ordered the beef tenderloin. All I can say is YUMMMY! One person from the group couldn't stop raving about his pasta of the day which included beef tenderloin tips! The pizza was thin crust and extremely taste. The plate display and taste was well above what we were expecting from a neighbourhood restaurant. We stayed almost three and half hours. Can't wait to go back!!

We where there for a christmas party. The space was wonderfully decorated setting the perfect mood. The music and atmosphere were warm and inviting coupled with the great food, made for a great party. Our party stayed well into the night and the owner made us feel very welcomed and didn't rush us out.
We had a mix of menu and off menu items and they were both great. Loved the muscules rockafellar and Oysters (off menu items) and the calamari are like no other. We will definetly be regulars!

The calamari was incredible (light, not leaden). The seared tuna was perfectly cooked and fresh. My boyfriend loved the ribs. The food is amazing and the space is beautiful. We will go back again and again.

Went there a week ago on a friday evening. It was pretty hot out so we dined inside. nice room, dark wood and tables, cozy feeling... it looks as though they have live music some evenings as well.

We weren't that hungry so we stuck to appetizers and drinks.
I had the calamari, it was deep fried with cornmeal breading, and was perfectly cooked. It was served with a citrus dessing, very yummy.
We also shared the glazed ribs, which were sticky, tender, and yummy.
The "bruschetta" was basically their pizza with tomatos, basil, garlic & olive oil, and was far larger than we thought it would be.
The ceasar salad was very good, with thick slices of parm, and double cooked bacon.
4 appz + 1 beer + 1 martini was about $70 tax&tip in, and we were quite full...

i'd go back,

My friend tried it on opening day and recommends the pizza and lamb chops. They got a good write-up in City Bites magazine. I'm planning to go. The menu doesn't look original or cheap, however.
