There used to be a Japanese bakery in Toronto called Nakamura Bakery. The style of the cookies, cakes and pastries are very similar. One of the best bakeries in Toronto. It reminds me of the bakeries in Tokyo. French + Japanese = Frappanese style. The croissants are superb -- not overly saturated with butter. They are not greasy or oily in any way. I love everything I've tried here so far!

I finally went over to Pain Perdu for the much celebrated french toast, and it was everything I heard it was. The bread is soaked for a long time, so the consistency of the dish is quite different, very moist and delicious. We also had a slice of a quiche and it was nice and fluffy, with a solid but not hard pastry. The coffee is very good, and we took home delightful coffee eclairs and some other puff things - yummy. stuff is very friendly.

the place is comfy but very small, so going for a later brunch (we were there at 1:30) may be your best bet for a table. i hear there is a line up during the usual brunch time.
