We dine out frequently and this has to be our worst dining
experience of all time.

We sat on the patio (12:15 pm), were given menus and water,
then abandoned. After an excruciating wait, we finally ordered
(1:30).

The table beside us wanted their leftover pizza packed up. Our
waiter took the plate and set a filthy bill presentation / payment
trays from another table on top of their pizza, stacked two more
on top before heading into the back. And the menus under his
arm kept rubbing up against the crust. YUCK!

If we hadn't ordered yet, we would have walked out from that
alone. We eventually got our meal by about 2:15 pm.

We had ordered the special, baked salmon on penne
pesto w/salad ($17). Unfortunately, with both our meals, the
SALMON WAS RAW -- only cooked on the surface.
Diners beside us even noticed and mentioned it with
disgust. They also noticed the waiter ROLL HIS EYES AT
US when we quietly pointed out the raw salmon. He took our
plates away, then came back to see what we wanted him to do
about it!!!

We politely suggested that after waiting over 2 hours for our
lunch, we'd actually like to eat, so could they prepare it again.

He returned with a bit of an apology (finally) for the RAW
SALMON and promised that our new meals would arrive quickly.

When our new meals arrived, the first thing I noticed was THE
HAIR IN MY SALAD! Couldn't find our waiter to tell him, decided
to leave the salad and try to enjoy the rest of the meal (it was
properly cooked this time.)

Never saw the waiter at our table again (though he was still
serving other tables). We finished, waited for our plates to be
cleared, finally asked another server for our bill (and pointed out
the hair in my salad). No apology or discount, just our full bill,
which we paid and left after 3:15 pm!

It's the first time I've EVER paid without leaving a tip and I'm as
easy going as they come...

This place has changed a lot since these much earlier reviews. First of all, they must have a new chef. The food has always been good at John's-- you just can't go wrong. But let me tell you, now the food is exquisite. They have amazing dinner specials at great prices you just can't find anywhere else in the city. The wine list isn't amazing, but it's really quite good for not being a "high-end" restaurant. The music they play is current and great for a dinner atmosphere, and the service is friendly and efficient. My colleages from out of town were also very impressed. Thanks John's!

Very, very good. great pizzas and pastas. the service was amazing, this guy treated us like no other place in toronto, cordial and fast. i will go back.

It is a very, very sad day when an Italian restaurant cannot cook pasta properly. Very disappointing.

Have been going to John's for many year, and brought many friends from all over and they fell in love with the place and the food.in all the years, I have never experienced rude service. The Pizza is the fabulous. The staff have always been attentive and courteous in this patron's humble opinion.

One of the worst customer service experiences i have ever had. Which is quite unfortunate since the food is not that bad. However, this restaurant is nothing unaccomodating to customers. All in all, this restaurant has caused so much frustration that i am compelled to submit this review.

Amazing pesto pizza! Substitution of ingredients was not a problem. Service was friendly! Cheesecake was disappointing.

We were at john's on friday night we enjoyed an excellente meal thank to their chef and a pleasant time at the hands of our waitress who was informative and friendly

john's looked promisign at first but the food was enjoyable i was dining with 4 friends we had 3 appetizers and 5 main courses the appetizers was ok but only 2 ot the 5 dishes were acceptable we were very disappointed in addition the services was only mediocre

When I stumbled across this little restaurant, the patio was full of Martini drinkers and jazz fans. I enjoyed an incredable antipasto while I relaxed to a jazz singer performing on the patio. It was a friendly atmosphere and I'll be back for sure!
