Just renovated last summer, this place has made to order pho (only 4 varieties though). Lady at side counter makes fresh viet rolls. Lunch is a reasonable $10 per person.

Dinner menu is good with about 8-9 items that you order and it comes freshly made. If you don't want the item spicy, the staff is accomodating. Along with the usual buffet, these added items make it worthwhile for dinner.

Staff and service fairly decent. Not the best place for a date but a nice place to take your date for some good food all you can eat.

quality of food was avgerage!!!!! Take them forever to refill the food when alot of dishes were empty, and at times when it was empty you have to ask them to refill it and than someone will go to the kitchen to inform the cooks..... and this is an ALL YOU CAN EAT BUFFET.... WELL GUESS NOT, they limit us to ONE OYSTER PER PERSON, and there were only two of us. We asked if we can have two oysters and they wouldn't give it to us....... and so WHY is this called a buffet? It's like going to mandarin and having them say to you sorry only one crab leg per person?!?!?! Pay $18 per person and cant even have two oysters... how SAD is that?

If you know the Thai & Vietnamese cuisine well enough, you will die for a place like Rex Saigon Buffet. But if you don't know much, you can still tell the good quality differences that Rex offers. All the favorite, famous dishes are here. The authentic, tasty, quality plus quantity foods are here to serve the well eaters...as customers' point of view, we are very lucky to find a place like this in the GTA. I have no complaints with the yummy, so true delicious dishes, enough seasoning, variety, freshness of they are all on the serving buffet bars, the price is so inexpensive, the staffs are friendly, lively atmosphere. I would definitely invite friends & family, pass along my co-workers to try out this wonderful place. I really appreciate the hard works this place has to offer. A picky eater like myself would rather cook at home to my own taste BUT NOW I NO NEED TO COOK FURTHER. Come and enjoy!

Rex Saigon Buffet Restaurant. My second time back. Love this place. Disagreed with some of the negative comments made about this restaurant. Tom Yum soup is suppose to be mostly broth. It is not a soup that suppose to have lots of 'substances'. Should be clear broth/fluid soup. So I definitely disagreed with the review wrote by 'baby tran'. By the way, it is Tom Yum Goong and not Kung.
I enjoyed my staying at the restaurant and so did my friends.
The decor is definitely fusion. Very comfortable and relaxing atmosphere.
The variety of food items surely gave me a satiable feeling. Thumbs up!
Oh, did i mention the friendly staff and prompt service? I liked the idea of 'create your own' vietnamese pho noodle soup.
Lastly, I wanted to say thank you to the owner for a wonderful restaurant......giving me and my family/friends another option to choose from when we do go out to eat.

i came here (brimley/sheppard location) for a birthday party last week and i have to say that i did like this place. for a buffet place the food was pretty good.
atmosphere: lots of seating, not as small as everyone told me it was; well lit; lots of families; service was quick to clear plates; refilled water
pros: lots of selection, diff types of curries, spring rolls (fried and fresh), crab done 2 ways, crispy chicken (very good - crispy on the outside and moist on the inside), veggies, lobster, soups, mango salad, make your own pho, fruit, cakes, puddings, ice cream, breads, etc.. also the buffet trays were small so they replaced things all the time - fresh food. they also have all the dipping sauces that you would want so you make your food spicer, etc.
cons: some of the food was too similar. like they would have the same ingredients from one stirfry and use essentially the same mixture of veggies/meat but just change the sauce. not for all but i did notice that by my 4th or 5th round.

i agree with baby Tran in that, i would recc this place, as it was different than other asian buffets. beyond the novelty the food was flavorful and the food tasted like it was supposed to. there was nothing bland, or boring. it was good! i can't say it was excellent b/c a lot of it was new to me but everythign tasted good enough to go back for seconds. it was decent in price: $21 that's with tax and tip. i've never been to a place like this before and it was great to try all the diff foods.
the pho was good too, you have your choice of beef or chicken broth and the diff types of noodles. the noodles are soft and it's piping hot. yum

Recieved flyer for $14.99 dinner: Monday - Friday and was told at bill time that it was a misprint and price was $17.99. Found that to be annoying, they should have just honored the flyer.
Food was ok, lots of selection, but long waits for refills of food at buffets. Forget about the lobster, it only came out twice, curries are very greasy and lack any meat. In all, it was ok, may return ...

Love the concept. South east asian food buffet. Quality is not top notch but you can't expect that for a buffet. However, its quite unexpected to find the nasi lemak wrapped in banana leaf. Had 4 of those when I was there. Needed more sambal though. Go for the Malaysian food--the waitress said most of the cooks from there.

Weekend Prices: Adults = $17.99; Seniors = 15% off; Children (9 and under) = $9.95; Toddlers (3 and under) = $2.50

Food:
Soup = Tom Yum Kung (mostly broth) and Asparagus Crab
Salad = Mango salad; Ga xe phay (chicken and cabbage); white chicken feet salad
Desserts = ice-cream (8 flavours); some cake; orange slices; fruit salad; sweet glutinous rice thing; panadan (? - coconut roll); red bean dessert soup and a white dessert soup; red glutinous rice with coconut milk and mango
Entrees = (from what I remember) singapore noodles; pad thai; fried udon; coconut fried rice; malay chicken curry; beef with mango; sweet basil chicken; thai style crab with chili; salt & pepper crab; deep fried chicken wings; stir-fired eggplant; long green beans; thai style deep fried fish; sweet and sour shrimps; banh xeo; garlic topped oysters on the shell; dumplings; rice wrapped in a banana leaf; deep fried bananas; deep fried wontons; spring rolls; roti canai
Pho Bar = get a bowl, fill with the type of noodle (wonton noodle, rice noodle, rice vermicelli, udon) desired, add toppings (shrimp, beef tendon, beef balls, fish balls, cooked fatty beef, lettuce, bak choy) then bring to the server and she'll add broth (beef or chicken)
Decor = its OK (reminds me of a cafetaria in Zellers)
Service = friendly staff; removed plates when you're finished; brought extra napkins when asked; brought crab cracker when asked; refilled water glasses

Quality = its average. Something different from the regular chinese or japanese all-you-can-eat places. Of course, not as great as if it were a restaurant specializing in these cuisines but a fair sampling. Spice levels aren't very hot.
Other comments: no high chairs, booster seats only. Check your bill as we had 2 seniors and 1 toddler that were charged at full adult and children rates cause the waitress never asked us although it should have been obvious.
