good food but bad service

If not for the great food, I really wouldn't be dining at this place, Service is far out horrific:( Staff are not attentive and don't seem to want a tip as they ignore you. Better to Take-Out and not have to tip or be served in such bad manners.

2 male waitresses were absolutely unacceptable servers and showed ridicules attitude. I have invited 10 people on 12/26 around 9:00PM and we sat at table 66 served by our main waiter named based on my bill “Alireza” which showed us an attitude on our first order “bully”. The second waiter who brought us ice and water – another character with disgusting attitude. I really felt to leave immediately but I stayed because the people I invited and promised of a great food. I did visit this restaurant before and spent lot of money. One of my events I spent up to $650.00. I did realize however that some of the servers in this Restaurant have issues/attitude with exception of the female servers that I did not experienced negative service. I personally not motivated anymore to have lunch or dinner in this restaurant unfortunately I will miss my favorite dish “Koobideh” plate.
Among Iranian food this was my first choice and now is the last one!

Whether you are a meat lover or a vegeterian, you will find the best food in this restaurant. Just don't be shy, if you need help with the menu ask your server; I was amazed when I said i want Mirzaghasemi with no egg in it and they said: SURE. It means real time preparation and that fresh. I go there more often since then.

I have been to this restaurant a few times being of persian decent. The food was always good, the decor traditional and spacious but the service deplorable.

At least one other time I was forced to speak to a manager about the lack of quality of service. We were apologized to and subsiquently treated well during the remainder of the meal. However the service is continually lacking in attention and most importantly courtacy towards their customers. Essentially, if you are not a personal friend don't expect much service.

We are never going back, and do not recomend this restaurant if your expecting any kind of service.

We visited North Restaurant, 100 Steeles Ave West, for lunch on April 20, 2008. The decor is pleasing, however, the washrooms are pretty deplorable with no paper, used tissue on the floor, overflowing bowls - you need to have bladder control to eat here.

On the service front, the waiters are not very helpful....it was our first time at a Persian restaurant - we did not know what to order, the waiter was quite abrupt and indicated he was very rushed, service was very poor, - had to wait ages for our drinks which eventually showed up after the meal. However, the food was excellent. I thoroughly recommend their Koobideh Kabab served with rice and grilled tomato, Morghe Torshe and naan bread. Be prepared for unhelpful service, poor washroom facilities in order to try their food.

At the end, when we mentioned we were disappointed with the service, the our waiter simply shrugged his shoulders and said "not my problem" which detracted from the excellence of the food. Their managers pretty much walk around and when you ask for assistance they nod their heads and say "Sure" and then that's it. You continue to wait for your food or drink.

the food is pretty decent. we are a group of 7 and ordered 6 main dishes and 3 apps. we first ordered 4 main, 2 beef kabab dishes, l lamb kabab, and Atlantic salmon from the seafood section. the kababs are quite good. apps are mostly eggplant with something else. the mirza ghasemi and kashk-e-bademjoon contains little eggplant and we were worried about the apps are too much of eggplant. the choice of dishes are not a lot though so i won't be visiting this place any time soon.

as you can tell we ordered the food based on the previous reviewer.

the restaurant is quite spacious and nicely decorated in Persian style.

now on the the service, our waiters was not attentive at all during the last half of our meal, forgot to bring the bread and tea. and he seems to be annoyed when we didn't take his recommendation on what to order. and in the end, he chased us to ask if we paid (he said the other waiter couldn't find it). then he brought the money back to us and ask us how much we paid in total. that is just too weird. i hope this is only one bad waiter!!

to sum up.. nice place, good food, unfortunately bad waiter.

the prices are between $12 to $18 (depending on what you have) but the food quality and quantity is good.

They have kabobs and stews, but my favourite is their "kabobs". All of them are good, but I recommend "kabab torsh" and "kabab barg".

"kabab torsh" is beef kabab that has been marinated in pomerganade paste, walnut and some herbs. It has a nice pomegranate flavour in it. You can only find this kabab in this restaurant. (It's about $18)

Their "kabab barg" is excellent. I have tried it in other persian restaurants and theirs is number one!! (That's about $18 too)

They have some nice appetizers. If you like eggplant you will enjoy these: (they are under warm appetizers)

"mirza ghasemi" is grilled eggplant mashed and cooked with tomatoe, garlic and egg. You can have it with the warm bread that they bring for you. The bread is so nice and fresh that we usually finish it right away. :)

"kashk-e-bademjoon" is grilled eggplant with "kashk". It's a persian sort of cream. I don't know the English name!

There is another nice appetizer that I don't remember what it's called on their menu. It's stuffed eggplant with pomeranate sauce and walnut. That one is so good too. One of my favourites!

Most of the appetizers should be eaten with that bread. The first baskets of bread are free (depending on the number of people at the table they may bring two or three baskets to begin with). I don't know if they charge for the extra bread. We usually have been fine with the bread they bring for us!

Most of the appetizers are less than $10 each.

Some other cold appetizer that you may like are yogurt with shallot which is called "maste mosir" and yogurt with cucumber and mint which is called "mast khiar".

The Persian drink, "doogh", is not so popular with non-Persians. However, it only goes well with "kababs". If you are going to try different foods and different appetizers I don't recommend it. Any pop drink would go well with your food.

Ohhhh, I feel hungry now!!!!

I just went to North this weekend (at Yonge and Steeles, across from CenterPoint, in a little square called Yorkville North). The food was really tasty and quite reasonably priced. The decor is really nice as well - you feel as though you are in a stage performance with all the decor up.

We started with three apps - two dips (one was like a tzatziki, and the other had some eggplant puree and yoghurt). We then had some beef stew with lentils which was amazing!! And the bread there is so so good - perfect for the dips!!!

For our mains, I had a BBQ piece of white fish (choice of BBQ or pan fried) served with basmati rice. And Ben had the chicken fesenjan - yum yum yum! Pomegranates and walnuts make the sauce so delicious!

We were so stuffed and had enough for left overs the next day.

The service was pretty good too.
