A warm casual open space where Forest Hill doyennes, students, hipsters and foodies alike convene for the cityâs finest fried eggplant and chicken shawarmas, Mashu Mashu (meaning "something something" in Hebrew, or something like that) breathes new life into authentic Middle Eastern eats.
And the portions (oh my god) are enormous.
We couldnt help but indulge in the combo platter to start, which offers four choices of appetizers from a tantalizing list that includes the most delicious red beet salad, a huge dollop of hummous (the perfect consistency with just the right amount of spice) and the yummiest babaganoush (to name just a few our faves). Served with hot pita, this $13 dish is enough to fill at least three of you for lunch.
If your eyes are bigger than your bellies (like ours were), youâve got to also try the restaurantâs signature salad to which you can add everything from a grilled lamb skewer to a scoop of tuna (ok so itâs not all authentic). And of course, the fabulous $5 falafel is enough to keep you fueled for the day (speaking of which, be prepared for some postpartum garlic breath).
