Went to Sassafraz for Valentine's day b/c of great word of mouth - was horribly disappointed. Waited over an hour to be seated - standing in doorway, despite having a reservation (and giving credit card no. to reserve table) and then food was bland! Cold bread with butter, luke warm and broth like lobster bisque, followed by ordinary spinach salad with toasted almonds, entree of overcooked indian style prawns - which were not flavourful, and ended with dry chocolate cake. For over $200 total, this was definitely a poor choice for dining out!

it's all about location and the content has gone out the window. if you're into pretentiousness - go there. Otherwise stay clear - you'll get a better meal at half the price in any diner. Food doesn't taste any better at a location which stars frequent - if it wasn't for the location, this place would go under in weeks.

It speaks volumes that this place has to leverage it's "star hangout" status to draw the public. Really though, given it's proximity to Park Hyatt, 4 Seasons et al, it couldn't fail to pull a bunch of actors/singers that want a burger at 2am. Think about it......but don't test it because you'll find outdated decor, elevator music, mediocre food and the most snide, unprofessional staff in TO. This one should be put out of it's misery and give soemone good a shot in that great location.

Service was incredible!!!Our food came out a few minutes late, and the waiter as well as the manager apologized, and everyone took such good care of us...actually pampered us. They even gave us free dessert for the delay. It was a good effort on their part. Well done! You pay extra for the treatment but its well worth it!

Fantastic! The food, ambience and especially the service made our visit a memorable one. Our waiter Arthur was excellent and very attentive. The beef tenderloin was amazing and the creme brule was, for lack of a better word, simply YUMMY! If you want delicious food and good service Sassafraz is the place to go. We'll definitely be back. Thank you for making our evening a special one!!! Don't believe some of the bad reviews on this site. The prices are high but I would recommend Sassafraz to anyone looking for a great night out!

Great call on the dessert review. My girlfriends and I recently dropped into Sassafraz for a glass of wine and dessert and were blown away by the creativity coming out of the pastry department. Beautifully presented and with tastes out of this world, the desserts definetly lived up to all the hype. Quick note: For all those dessert lovers out there who have a hard time narrowing down their selection to only one choice, we found out that Sassafraz also does a mixed dessert platter with a couple of the various selections. Great way to try a little bit of everything or to share among friends. Keep up the great work!
