Gone down hillThis restaurant is not what it used to be. the service was never spectacular but it has really gotten worse. After being seated you have to seek out a waitress to get a menu. The waitress checks her cell phone and spends time texting while customers are looking for her to pay their bill or are waiting an extensive amount of time for their meals. Many customers had to go looking for their waitress to ask why their meal was taking so long. One customer waited 20 minutes for 2 salads. This all occured when only 2 tables were being served - it was not busy at all. On 2 personal experiences, I was served burnt pancakes (they were black on one side, but turned to the side that was golden when served to me), and a burger that had a bun that was inferior to Mcdonalds. Also most meals specify that they're served with fresh fruit, both times I ate there I was given 1 piece of pineapple, one piece of melon and a shriveled up strawberry. It was a real embarassement. It's not like there was one bad strawberry mixed into a bowl of fruit, it was one strawberry that had to be placed on my plate - so it would have been more than obvious that it was in very poor (rotting) condition. Due to the quality of food & the poor service I will not be returning - a disapiontment since i would frequent this restaurant a lot since moving into Vaughan.

Hidden gem in Thornhill with 5 Star foodMy foodie friend and I have been going to Grains for their organic, fresh breakfast. then we found out they now server dinners between Thursday to Saturday. As usual, the ambiance is fresh and so is the dinner. On Thursday & Friday night, they served FREE tappas. I consumed them all - calamari oh so good, green beans japanese style, and some surprise ones ..they were all good. we ordered fish entree and man/woman, they are scrumptious. The bass was perfect with the charred cauliflower. the attention to detail by chef Kurt was amazing - the food was lighty salted but the flavour is all there! they don't cheap out on the ingredients - I have tiny purple potatoes, pancetti, black olives in the other fish plate. (they let my friend and i share our dishes so that we can try out the two fish entrees). Oh...their juice is freshly squeezed unlike the chains like Moxi, Milestone which give you Topicana. I had blood orange juice and it went well with my fish. i forgot to tell you that they have the cleanese washroom and i love their high counter stool For a nicely decorated restaurant, they welcome children and have diaper changing station. it is a HIDDEN GEM at thornhill and if you enjoy FRESH high quality ingredients with an amazing cooking. did i tell you that their manager Dennis is also a well trained sous chef and the chef Kurt is a well trained top quality chef ! tags: fresh, excellent quality

beautiful space for breakfast and lunch, very bright. great value in their menu especially at lunch. nice patio as well(that's where we sat), the daily special sandwich was awesome; pork melt on ace baguette with all kinds of other stuff, a heatlthy portion of hand cut fries $8.95. to finish they have these sent-from-god biscotti and illy coffee. wow.
