We wanted to book this place for an event we were holding. The food and decor were fine, but we had the worst service we could remember.
My partner and I always had to initiate contact with the owner, as promises of phone calls or other deliverables were never done on time.
One tasting was cancelled due to a cook being ill. I only found out later that (a) he uses three chefs and (b) he had been through 3 crews of chefs in 4 months of business
When we tasted the menu for our event, it was good, save for the hair in my partner's plate.
Still, we put up with it because the price, decor and food (without the hair) was reasonable. We asked alot of questions of the guy and he did not qualify the initial estimate he gave us.
Until, 8 weeks and much haranguing later, he gives us a quote in writing...
...for 50% more than the original cost.
He used the excuse that he thought we were planning a smaller 3-4 course meal, instead of the 5-6 course we wanted. Because the meal we had at the tasting was, according to him, to decide what would constitute this smaller menu.
Would've been a credible story, if not for the fact we asked for a 5-6 course menu. Again and again.
This wasn't the only embellishment. When we asked him for his experience in the restaurant business, he told us of the restaurant, he "owned" and later sold to the current owners of it. Seemed impressive, until we learned that he only owned 10% of it.
When we raised concerns about the quote, he responded, a week later of course, by saying that he does not lie to his patrons.
And he most certainly does not. He will torque the facts of a situation...but lie? Never.
It was an exhausting and demoralising experience trying to book an event with these people. Stay away, far far away from it.
