Okay, I wish it hadn't said Soul food, cause I am from the South, right? so I was expecting soul food...what I got was really GOOD food, but not soul food. If you are looking for collards done right, do not order the ones here- they aren't cooked enough, so they are mad bitter. I did like the shortribs with Picante sauce(very spicy!) and the catfish(which DID have some soul about it)...the grits...were interesting. It was a different taste. But like i said, the food was really good- but soul food it is not.

Actually I can't say that I enjoyed Tasty's all that much even though, for some reason, I've been there several Times. The food is not terrible but it's not worth raving about and the service is more than just a little slow (i have waited more than 10 minutes for a menu!!) I won't say how long the food and drinks took. They do have a cute patio but that does not compensate for the lack of character inside. Lots of people seem to like the place but i just can't understand exactly why.

The soul food menu at the Tasty is the best value in town. The portions are generous and the food is both unique and comfortable. Try the fried chicken, the ribs in tomato picante sauce, the chicken-fried steak... you'll need to come back again and again, but luckily you'll want to (and can afford to, even on a budget). The mix-and-match side dishes are great fun too - don't miss the seared collard greens with bacon and the cheese grit cakes. There's no fancy-pants pretense to this place - just great food and service in a comfortable environment.
