As mentioned by others, Spoon is the "best kept secret" in downtown Toronto. The food was excellent -- simply prepared with only the freshest ingredients. The service was caring and thoughtful, with knowledgeable wine pairings including a white dessert port. The decor was elegantly understated as was the music in the background. We will be back again to enjoy this gem.

Based on all the positive reviews, a friend and I decided to try it out for dinner. We love to cook and enjoy well prepared food. Ambiance and service was very good. Warm basil/sesame bread and cocktails were great. We found the meal to be on the "average" side. Oxtail/scallop (sliced in 2) was very tasty, but a bit on the salty side. The pasta lacked much of the meat and mushrooms. Halibut dish was flavourful but was still lacking something else with the dish. Creme brulee would be nice if served warm. App/dinner portions were on the small side. Overall, we may try it out again.

We had a great overall experience at Spoon. Their $40, 3-course dinner was an unbelievable deal. The halibut was incredible, as was the surf and turf appetizer. Great service, food and atmosphere. I would definitely return!

Excellent restaurant. A party of four, we enjoyed ourselves tremendously. Service was attentive and friendly. Food was excellent both in taste and presentation. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone.

I'd heard so many great things about Spoon that I finally went to check it out with my girlfriend on the weekend. Not sure where to begin except to say that it was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had, right down to the fantastic service by a certain Mr. David who was our server. Food was immaculate, ambiance perfect and not too pricey. If anyone is looking for a dining experience out of the ordinary, please check it out.

I went there to celebrate a new job. The ambience was good, and the service was great. Although our steaks were overcooked, the owner took care of us, brought us new entrees cooked perfectly (the second time), drinks on the house and gave us a gift certificate to return back. Awesome, I will definately be back soon. PS try the tuna tartare, it's amazing if you like raw fish and the spoon martini if you're in the mood for something fruity. Spoon is the best kept secret on king st.

Although from the US, I visit Toronto a few times a year. Every time, I go for dinner at Spoon. The food is amazing and flavors are often used inventively. Alan, the owner, is incredibly warm and generous in his attentions, as are the rest of the staff. And definitely try some of the mixed drinks. The martinis are amazing. As a final note, I thought the lamb shank was great when I had it, contrary to the To Dine For review. Cooked to perfection, and amazing, unique taste. For the quality of food, wonderful service, and welcoming coziness, the price absolutely can't be beat. My only regret is that I can't go more frequently. It's always a fabulous experience.

Just returned from dinner at Spoon. What a wonderful treat to have found this little gem tucked away on King. The food is great (I had the duck and my husband had the New York striploin). Generous portions. Elegant presentation. Wonderfully warm service. We will definitely be going back.

We just returned from a lovely evening at this hidden gem of a restaurant. Food, service and ambiance exceeded our expectations. A real highlight was the personal attention we received from the chef after informing our waiter of a wheat allergy. The staff went out of its way (including adjusting menu items) to accommodate us. Overall an excellent dining experience. Definitely recommended.

We've now been to Spoon a couple of times and look forward to returning. In a downtown core with so many restaurants to choose from, I'll gladly return to one with new, inventive menus of such wonderful quality food, not to mention to attention you get. The prices are a little high, but you forget about that when you take a bite. The fish is always served fresh and cooked to perfection and the risotto, WOW! Well done Spoon.
