Last weekend was our first time at Cru. We enjoyed the ambience and the service. The food from the menu was excellent but the Special of the Day (Halibut) was too fishy and tasteless. The desserts were outstanding. We will definately come back but not for the Specials.

I have to say that after spending a fortune at some of downtown's "hottest spots" I find myself returning time and time again to this more reasonably priced, tastier - HOT SPOT! The food is fantastic, the ambience is calming and the staff are professional, fun and friendly. I would recommend it - I have recommended it, and I will continue to recommend it!

My husband and I went to Cru for dinner on Sunday and all I can say is "WoW!" We started with the Portabello Mushroom and Goat Cheese tart - yum! and the Mussels (great for sharing!). For the main course, I had the steak (done to perfection)and frites w/asparagus, and my husband had the duck confit with sausage, which he enjoyed immensely. Everything was lovely. The service was good, food was great, and I just loved the atmosphere! This restaurant has huge potential and I invite all to try it! I will be back! Thanks for the great evening!

I went with a group for a birthday party and it was a way better time than I thought it would be. Six women fell in love with the Salmon and five went nuts for the Veal. Our server was a blast and made our night even more fun. We were going to go downtown afterwards but ended up staying inside Cru's beautiful environs. Two thumbs up to the chef!

The food at CRU is fabulous - have you tried the Lamb Shanks, the Veal or the Salmon? They are cooked to perfection. You can't have food that delicious unless the chef puts his soul into it. And the Bread Pudding is a delicious end to a meal at CRU although I have enjoyed the Chocolate Symphony. My husband & I have always been served promptly, politely and in a friendly, "come back again" manner. And the ambiance is warm, comfortable and chic. We understand the floor is the original from the Woolworths store it used to be. If you haven't tried CRU, don't miss it.

My wife and I have been to Cru lots of times and have had a wonderful dinners. Hiue and stuart the Chef have made a great restaurant, the food is cooked well, the service is great with very helpful and friendly staff .Sometimes people forget that food is cooked in the way the chef likes to eat . I go to restaurant because of the food and wine not because of the lighting, have we forgotten why we got to a restaurant, to eat the food the Chef has cooked..... no ?

After reading the other reviews and going to Cru last weekend to try it, my question is did we all eat at the same place? The food was edible nothing to get all excited over, the service was okay, the ambiance....there are definately interesting light fixtures. Overall I would have to say that I probably won't be going there again!!!!

So according to the critic, if he had dined at a less attractive restaurant then his expectations would have been lower and therefore the review better. I posted the message previous before seeing the review and it seems to me unfair to judge a restaurant's food by it's environs--especially in that neighbourhood. It's not downtown Toronto so it stands to reason that the food wouldn't reflect a "club district" palate. I like to eat delicious food, not art. Sounds as though the critic found an easy angle with the chef's previous jobs. For the record, I do agree with most of this website's reviews--I go to it before anywhere else when checking out a restaurant. Maybe I just feel insulted for enjoying this place so very much.

Finally I can post this! I've been three times and each visit was more delicious than the last. The Salmon is my favourite entree. Last time I went I tried the scallop appetizer--now I'm addicted to the truffle sauce. Beautiful room too!
