we were passing by mimosa on our way to la vecchia and noticed their taste of summer special at $19 for 3 courses and decided to walk in.... it was packed and they still found us a place... the best portions for the price in the city and an interesting wine list

Had a mediocre brunch at Mimosa yesterday. One of my friends really enjoyed the marscarpone stuffed french toast. My mushroom and squash ravioli with a creamy truffle sauce were so-so. It consisted of al dente ravioli with a dry filling smothered in a heavy cheese sauce, with no identifiable truffle taste. Couldnât really detect any squash taste in the filling, either. My other friend had the huevos rancheros, which looked like a thin quesadilla topped with 2 fried eggs. When she asked where the salsa and black beans mentioned on the menu were, the server mentioned they were under the eggs. A very small amount of salsa and beans were sandwiched between the crispy tortillas that were under the eggs. And the huevos rancheros, as a result were disappointingly bland despite a stellar description on the menu. Our server was friendly and professional.

a lovely place with great food i went to mimosa for the first time last night (Thursday) with my girlfriend for dinner and i was very impressed. someone greeted us right away, took our coats and seated us at the back. the decor was lovely, romantic and soothing. our server was attentive and very pleasant. i had the goat cheese fondue. it was awesome. it definitely wasn't what i was expecting. i pictured dipping something into cheese but it was this incredible phyllo wrapped cheese and leeks. yummy! my girlfriend had the mussels. very nice portion size and very tasty. i had the chicken supreme and it was definitely supreme. so much flavour and the potato or califlower (not sure which?) mash topped the dish off! my friend had the salmon and it too was very good. the server (who has this great russian accent and is very cute) recommended a red wine, i can't remember the type of grape. it complimented both our chicken and fish. we were very full so we split a lavender creme carmel. wow! not too sweet, amazing texture and a touch of lavender! very different. i really enjoyed my evening there. i can't wait to go back, maybe for brunch!
