For consistantly great food with a nice ambience, ask for a window table with a nice view of Toronto skyline at 'Scaramouche'. Try their tasing menu and ask whether chef Frogett are willing to use venison as the main entree. (Beautifully cooked piece of meat with an 'out of this world' bordelaise sauce).
If a nice view is second prioity, then I would definitely go to 'Splendido' for the total 'food, wine, service' experience. Michelin 3 star trained David Lee's cooking is totally awesome!

I second the Coconut Cream Pie. Went there for my wife's birthday in March and it was the highlight of the meal. I would research the wine list online before you go. Some wines they offer are from wineries that are not well-known and this way you will have a heads up when you arrive. Ask for a window seat, if possible.

Scaramouche is my favourite! the coconut cream pie is amazing. I believe the price difference between "pasta bar-grill" and "dining room" sections is quite significant. You can check for yourself on their web site (scaramoucherestaurant.com). FYI, on the "pasta bar" side they don't take reservations for prime dinner time (maybe 6-8 pm), at least not on a Saturday. We arrived at 8:30, and some tables were free by then.

The food, the atmostphere, the view: definitely a place to be seen and to go to pamper oneself. Perfect for a romantic evening for 2.
