Their complimentary salsa is fantastically spicy, their ceviche is usually great, and so is the lomito saltado. Ooh, and the papas a la huancaÃna is muy delicioso. I suggest going with a group and ordering a bunch of appetizers, tapas-style.

it is just a few blocks east of Little Italy, My personal non-Italian favourite is El Bodegon at the corner of College and Euclid. It's a homey, family-run Peruvian restaurant. Plenty of seafood on the menu for your non-red-meat eater. Try the camerones al ajillo (garlic shrimp) appetizer. And be careful of the hot sauce they serve with the bread -- it look innocuous but packs some serious heat.

It's a pretty reasonable spot, pricewise. App and main + tax and tip for 2 is generally around $60 - $70. We usually get a litre of Sangria, so that bumps it up another 20 or 30 bucks.

Just an aside on El Bodegon.

El Bodegon is a great Peruvian place in Little Italy at the corner of College and Manning. Casual, warm environment. Try the camarones al ajillo (garlic shrimp), the anticuchos (grilled beef hearts) and the beef lomo saltado (grilled strips of steak sauteed with onions, potatoes and tomatoes, served over rice). Service can be a little slow on busy nights, but it's a family-run place and well worth a visit. Oh, and they happen to have excellent won ton soup!

AMAZING, we went for dinner and the portions are HUGE!! Not to mention absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is very unique and they open the doors so it's like you are sitting outside but really are inside. A totally one of a kind restaurant and I'm dying to go back. Must try the Pisqo Sour or Inca Cola-South American specialties.
