The best sushi in the beach. Try the beef sashimi to start. A little more expensive than some sushi places, but definately worth the extra money.

a friend had recommended it as the best sushi in town.
We had a sushi dinner combo, and a chef's special sushi. The sushi was amazing, definitely the best I've had. I was a little skeptical before we ate, because everyone thinks their favourite sushi restaurant has the best sushi. But this is my new favourite.

Best sushi I've had in the city. More expensive than the ones on the Bloor strip (between Bathurst and Spadina - most are very cheap, but quality is not quite as high), but cheaper than the one Nal suggests above (and more convenient to the east end). Wonderful fresh succulent fish - two of us split 10 pieces of sashimi and 10 pieces of nigiri, along with having miso soup, unagi tempura and green tea ice-cream for about $45 (tax and tip included). The Beaches (Queen street east) has several good sushi places.

I can highly recommend the bento box lunches at Yumei... $11.95 for miso soup, salad, four pieces of Nigiri, shrimp tempura or beef teriyaki, plus a couple other small items (chef's choice, not listed on the menu). The same can be had for $16 or $17 at dinner time. The quality was excellent, and the overall meal quite filling.
