I've never found any felafel that was notable over the rest, so I stick with Sababa, which is as good as any and cheap. The biggest disappoint was Tov-Li. After all the hype, it proved to be both mediocre and expensive.

Sababa has the best falafel - taste, price, etc. Better to get them at the takeout counter than sit down though. Their dips are ok, but not what you go their for. Also try their homemade walnut baklava.

I love the falafels at Sababa. Mostly get the takeout ones from the counter at the back of the grocery store (the other side of the establishment is a sit-down restaurant). The pita bread is freshly baked - they make their own. The falafel balls are crisp and delicious and they add plenty of "stuff": tahini, veggies, hot sauce. Cheap as dirt, too.

I have no particular memory of their hummus, though. I know I've bought it, but I can't remember how good (or not) it was. But in general the takeout counter stuff at Sababa is outstanding.

they won the award for best middle east restaurant in toronto for 6 years running. the falafel sandwiches, fresh made pita and lentil soup are awesome. if you don't have time to sit, the adjoining grocery store has a take-out counter that makes for an easy, healthy, low-cost meal.
