The dish is simply spanish rice with gandules (pigeon peas) but it tastes very , VERY good. It meant a lot to me because I cooked it in my grandfathers pot. It brought back many memories of being over my grandparent's house on 24th and Florida with all of my cousins. It probably had added meaning becuse two days before this I was at a funeral for one of my cousins. The generation that I remember as just being "adults" are now the older generation.
Life is fleeting, and I am at the phase in my life where I wish I could just slow things down a little bit.
