A recipe that I had flagged from Pichet Ong's The Sweet Spot for a while now. The Condensed Milk Pound Cake features the full sweet flavour of condensed milk (I think of thick slices of Taiwanese Brick Toasts slathered with a generous layer of condensed milk before being broiled into a golden crust) in a fine crumbed buttery pound cake.
In lieu of a very kind ex-colleague, Dr. YD, who was visiting Toronto this week. As YD has always been such a wonderful person and whose face always brightened up whenever I would bake treats for whatever occasion, I though this was the perfect opportunity for the cake that travels well (it boasts of keeping at room temperature for a week, in the freezer for 2 months). Hope Dr. and Mrs. YD enjoy it in the new city they call home.
(I used excess batter for a smaller loaf. ;) )
