for the marinade i just mixed up these bits until i liked it:
*lots of freshly grated ginger
*2 cloves of crushed garlic
*soy sauce
*sesame oil
*dark molasses
*a pinch of rice vinegar
let your tofu soak it up for a few hours then cook up on a hot skillet along with some white onion.
slather your bread with some mayo. add the tofu, then the onions then cilantro and a big handful of purple basil...enjoy with a faux-ito!
cost break down:
*tofu $1.99
*cilantro $1.00 (for an enormous bunch)
*basil $1.00 (another big bunch)
*onion .46
*bread $2.29 for the loaf
my best estimate:
$1.25 for each sandwich
one tofu block makes for sandwiches.
