Share on Twitteron second try i found instruction to cut up only the insides of the banana flower and soak it in water with lemon for a while. also apparently it's beet season 'cause it keeps showing up in our CSA boxes. so i ended up tossing some beets, red spring onion and mint with the banana flower. the banana flower has a bitter but refreshing taste. it goes well with the beets, but i'm not sure why people would go through so much trouble for it. anyways, this is kinda like when southeast asia meets eastern bloc...
