Share on TwitterThe Russian River winds west through Northern California north of the wine country of the Napa Valley. Most of the time it's a serene calm river, but in the winters it can be a demon. The city of Guerneville, nestled in its canyon walls, gets flooded every few years - even though the river level is normally 20 or 30 feet below the town streets! This shot was taken as I was getting ready to join a canoe trip down the river.
