Renée style.
This is one of those staple pantry recipes that I fall back on time and time again. Great feel good comfort food that's modified from my mother's great recipe to suit my taste - i.e. more meat, less liquid, more spice and seasoning. Since the first time I added chili powder to the pot my mother was cooking back in Grade 3, I never turned back since. After sauteing onions, crushed fresh garlic and browned ground beef, I add the tomato elements. Besides tomato paste, quality canned tomatoes, I enhance the sauce with ketchup (rounds out the flavours and adds some sweetness) - this time a Tabasco spiked version none-the-less.
This was the first of many bowls/plates. I never seem to tire of the sauce, and knowing it's popularity when I was a kid (I recall all my birthdays or parties at home where there was always more than 3 requests for that "really yummy spaghetti sauce") up to now, it seems like no one else tires of it either. :)
