A simple, but delicious recipe. Great for those on a budget, but it can be made fancier or poorer if necessary. Serves 1, but can be adjusted for more.
*s indicate what I used in my meal.
Ingredients:
1 Teaspoon of sea salt*
1 Teaspoon of cayenne*
A sprinkle of savory*
1 cup of white rice *
Soft biltong, ideally*/ Beef jerky (for the non-South Africans)1 1 Teaspoon of olive oil*
1 Teaspoon of Fresh garlic/ 1 frozen garlic cube*
Green onions, diced
Directions:
1) Cook rice, ideally with saffron.
2) Cut up biltong/jerky into small pieces.
3) When rice is finished, put it on a plate and add the meat.
4)Add fresh garlic/garlic cube. Stir and mix around.
5) Add salt, cayenne, and savory. Stir these in.
6) Add the teaspoon of olive oil. Extra virgin is the best.
7)Add green onions, or any other vegetables you like (recommended: mushrooms, onions, green peas)
8) Stir again. Add more of any of the three seasonings to taste. Serve hot. Enjoy!
