Last week I went to this restaurant, Chow, in the Castro, SF. They had an asparagus appetizer, which we very much enjoyed. I was making some yummy fish tonight and decided that we should try to recreate it. Perfecto. Here's the recipe:

INGREDIENTS:
finely chopped red onion (about 1/4 cup)
capers (4-6 TBS)
a little finely chopped garlic (~1/4 clove)
Asparagus
Machego cheese


DIRECTIONS:
Lightly sautee' the onion, garlic, and capers in a little olive oil.
Steam or grill asparagus.
Arrange asparagus on a pretty platter.
Pour caper/onion mix over asparagus.
Use veggie peeler to shred manchengo over the top.
Drizzle good olive oil over asparagus.
Enjoy!
