This is one of my favorite Grandma Dorie dishes. She taught my Mom how to make it. and this is my Mom showing me.
Ingredients:
1.5-2 lbs ground beef 15% fat
1 can condensed Tomato soup
1 can condensed cream of chicken
1 12 oz package wide egg noodles
American cheese (or cheddar or whatever you think will be good)
Preparation:
Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees
* Brown meat in pan. w/ olive oil. Onion salt, salt, and pepper while browning. not super mixed, leave it a little chunky. When done, drain some of the fat but leave some for flavor.
* Mix soups together in a bowl
* Cook noodles al dente (If they are too soft they fall apart in the oven)
In pot used for noodles, add the ingredients in this order to layer it:
1/2 of ground beef
1/2 noodles
1/2 the soup
Cover with cheese
1/2 of ground beef
1/2 noodles
1/2 the soup
Cover with cheese
Cover and cook in oven for 40 minutes. To make it crispy on the top, uncover for last 10 min.
